It's About Time for AMD to Take the Lead Again

This pick is about: Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD)
Rating:   Positive   $6.66 (03/04/08)

Target:   $14.00 (+110.21%) in Six months

For years, AMD and Intel have swapped back and forth on who has the fastest processors available, with AMD always playing the underdog. Intel currently has the lead, but it's about time for AMD to hit another home run. No concrete evidence on this one. Just a hunch.

Apple TV + AKAM

This pick is about: Akamai Technologies Inc (AKAM)
Rating:   Positive   $33.24 (03/04/08)
Gain/Loss:   -26.99% in 630 days

Apple recently updated their Apple TV to allow for video rentals directly from the Apple TV. Assuming Apple is using Akamai to serve these video streams as they do with their other iTunes Store content, this should provide a nice boost to Akamai as the Apple TV seems to finally be taking off with this newly added ability. I have several friends who have recently purchased Apple TVs and have been renting several movies per week. At ~4GB each for HD Movies, that bandwidth will add up quickly for Akamai.

Adding to AAPL Position - A Steal at This Price

This pick is about: Apple Computer Inc (AAPL)
Rating:   Positive   $121.99 (03/04/08)
Gain/Loss:   +67.59% in 630 days
Target:   $180.00 (+47.55%) in Six months

Compared to other tech stocks, AAPL got hit quite a bit harder by the recent pullback in the markets. I feel it's a bargain at this price given recent highs over $200. Even if it only manages to test those highs before pulling back again, you're still looking at around a 60% potential gain. iPhone SDK will be released soon and a 3G-capable iPhone will be out in a few months (and I'll finally buy one). The MacBook Air is still selling out in most Apple Stores, including the online Apple Store even though it's been available for a month now. Apple Stores are still packed, despite all the talk of a possible recession. Hard to go wrong at this price.
