Apple is worth $23505/15/08
—
Apple is worth $235 based on conservative estimates for fiscal year 2008 earnings. I expect they should make $5.24 easily, which is 33% more than 2007. They already have shown they can do this in the first quarter of this year. I dont see any downside catalysts other than perhaps some profit taking ...
Baidus Q1 2008 Earnings: Long-Term Positive04/24/08
—
Baidu just met on EPS, which is disappointing. However, both on revenue and revenue guidance they beat hands down. In addition, Baidu is spending money on projects (such as Baidu Japan, E-commerce, social networking, wikis, radio and TV advertising, etc.) that will pay off later. Baidu can’t ma...
On Googles earnings beat and pessimism on its outlook04/18/08
—
I think two major factors are at work here, in addition to Comscore’s garbage analysis. The first is people are way too US centric when it comes to earnings given the global reach of companies like Google coupled with the decline in the dollar and strength in emerging markets. The second is peo...
Apples stock roadmap04/17/08
—
I expect Apples earnings to be better than expected but for guidance to be lower than expected partly due to an expected lull in sales for the iPhone in anticipation of 3g as well as caution with regard to the economy. Apple should get up to 170 prior to earnings and then possibly go lower toward 15...
MELIGold says to buy growth stocks (for now)02/18/08
—
Growth stocks are cheap. Some examples include Apple trading at 25 times 2008 earnings, Mercadolibre trading at 65 times while growing its bottom line north of 100%, and Baidu trading at 64 times while growing at 80%.
The reason growth stocks are cheap is (obviously because of the risks to growth, wh...
MELIGFAWhy are Brazilian stocks so cheap?02/16/08
—
I’m relatively new to investing (6 years) but it seems to me that Brazilian stocks are way too cheap. I know that Brazil and Latin America in general have a reputation for big booms and even bigger busts so I can see why there would be a risk premium but the Brazilian economy is still getting s...
EPSMy analysis on Mercadolibre was wrong: theyll earn at least 9 cents02/16/08
—
Brad has pointed out that my analysis was wrong. I didn’t take into account that other expenses from Q3 2007 included expenses from the exercising of warrants which will not be recurring. This means Mercadolibre should earn at least 0.09 EPS for Q4. I’ll provide a more detailed explanatio...
Its better to know how to invest than to save02/16/08
—
I you started with $5,000 and got an annualized return of 25%, in 25 years you would have roughly $500,000 . If you got a return of 10% you would have about $50,000. If you expect to get a return of 10% but want to have $500,000 in 25 years, you would need to save $5,000every year for those 25 years...

By H. JOSEF HEBERT 20 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) The widespread use of ethanol from corn could result in nearly twice the greenhouse gas emissions as the gasoline it would replace because of expected land-use changes, researchers concluded Thursday. The study challenges the rush to biofuels as ...

Now that I have the weighted-average-shares issue mostly dealt with, I’m going to complete my earnings per share calculation. I’m going to slightly adjust my numbers to be more aggressive here. If this is a mistake we’ll see for sure soon enough. Perhaps I’m just too stubb...
The investor is willing to take risks to achieve high returns from portfolio. Investor's holding consists of speculative stocks that will produce massive gains or losses and/or the trading strategy is focused more on short term profits rather than long term appreciation

I am a college student and former entrepreneur and I manage investments for friends and family. I've been managing other people's investments for 5 and a half years and during that time I've attained an annualized return of 54% (as of 04/16/2008).
My current area of focus includes technology platform companies that are dominant in a growing field. I am also heavily tilted towards continued growth in emerging markets.
From 2003 to mid-2005 my portfolio was weighted largely in gold mining investments. I then switched into Chinese equities. Both of these macro strategies payed off and have contributed to the bulk of my returns. I am not tied to any investment thesis and am ready to switch if the climate changes.
