On Tuesday afternoon after the close, Goldman downgraded almost every major broker on the street: Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan and Merrill Lynch. Our view is that "if" things are really that bad for the brokers...Goldman Sachs is experiencing challenges also. We featured GS as a short in tonight's newsletter at Supertradetimer.com. STT

LEH is selling additional assets (we hear), MER could be forced to take additional write downs and raise even more money. It is difficult to see how Merrill Lynch doesn't cut its dividend going forward and we maintain that MER will trade towards $20 in the August - September time frame as financial conditions continue to worsen.
