After months of enduring a slow drip downwards, battered HandHeld Entertainment : ZVUE shareholders are getting some relief today. Shares of the microcap online video aggregator and MP3/MPEG player manufacturer shot up after comScore labeled ZVUE the fastest-growing internet property it tracked : “In a news release issued Sept. 18, comScore reported that HandHeld had the largest increase in unique visitors (U.S.) by 327 percent month-over-month from July 2007 to August 2007.”

Investors unimpressed as ZVUE hits Wal-Mart Graphic_rating_buy ZVUE
HandHeld Entertainment's (ZVUE) (articles) ZP-3 and PVP-200 players are now at Wal-Mart stores according to various accounts, and are even available on Walmart.com.

That's a good step, but I still don't think the offering is competitive. Wal-Mart sells the clunky PVP-200 for $94.86 online with 128MB memory, yet for less than four dollars more it offers the sleek Creative Zen V 1GB portable video player with 8x the memory and an OLED display.

I didn't plan on updating my views on Handheld Entertainment (ZVUE) (articles) until after tomorrow's conference call, but there appears to be a lot of interest, so here goes. ZVUE review: more questions raised than answered Graphic_rating_buy ZVUE
...The company says it will be able to fulfill its projection of positive cash flows in Q4 if it is able to sustain a price point near $149 for the upcoming 260 model , if it continues to enjoy similar marketing deals with WalMart, and if it can grow its revenue-per-user on the online businesses by 400-500% from .5 cents per user per month to 2.5-3 cents. For the sake of investors I hope its right, but those are some pretty big "ifs."
