I continue to like WuXi PharmaTech (WX) for the long run but for now the American (and Irish) companies in the contract research organization area seem to have the money flow [Aug 13: Creating a CRO Basket], and WuXi seems to exist in a parallel universe. Chinese stocks at this moment trade as if the country is growing slower than the U.S. rather than facing the "threat" of growth slowing from 12% down to 8%. We only had 50 shares remaining and with the # of names in the portfolio creeping up, I'm looking at some of the smaller names to cut out.

"WuXi PharmaTech (Cayman) Inc. (NYSE: WX) provides laboratory and manufacturing services for the drug and medical device R&D process," notes China stock specialist Jim Trippon.

In his The China Stock Digest, he explains, "Because Chinese researchers receive much smaller paychecks than their Western counterparts, Shanghai-based WuXi is able to lower the cost of this research." Here's his review.

WuXi PharmaTech (WX) earnings seem quite stellar on first glance - I am assuming the analysts expectations are non GAAP since we live in a non GAAP world (which is a whole issue onto itself) but I digress. $0.14 EPS was consensus, with a range of 8 analysts of $0.08 to $0.19 - I only point that out because this is a young company with a short track record and a bevy of analysts who are having trouble coming to a consensus.

They appear to have done a $0.21 quarter... and the market yawns if last nights after hours action signifies anything. If this was an American contract research organiza...
