Last week I took a look at picks from the week of August 7, 2006 . Going a week ahead, let's examine the selections from the week of August 14, 2006. Fortunately for this reviewer there was only one stock 'picked' that week, Sonic Corporation (SONC) which was reviewed on August 14, 2006 . Sonic was trading at $21.75 when I wrote up the stock on August 14, 2006. SONC closed at $21.33 on February 29, 2008, for a loss of $(.42) or (1.9)% since posting. I do not own any shares nor do I have any options on this stock.

Sometimes you get a gut feeling about a stock and this is it.  I fully expect Sonic to outperform the market in the next 3 months.  Of course, weather will be a factor in their earnings growth.  If the weather stays nice then Sonic will outperform the market.  Buy rating.  30 dollar price target.

I think this is the year for the fast food chain's growth.  I was doing some research actually on Chipotle (my favorite fast food place) and actually stumbled upon this one because I felt that though CMG was a fast grower, it's P/E was a bit high in my opinion compared to its competitors.  I think CMG is great, but that I probably missed the boat.  However with SONC I thought th eP/E was fair, and the fundamentals look good, plus they are looking at same store sales growth of about 12% this year, opening a number of new locations throughout the country, and plan an aggressive stock buyback,...
