Shanda is China's most diversified pure-play video game company. Close competitors such as NCTY (the 9) have suffered recently due to lack of diversification. Shanda has a strong development pipeline as well as key licensing partnerships with world-class game developers. Recent selloff in all Chinese stocks provide a great buy-in price for this undervalued stock at $26.

Shanda Interactive: Citi Upgrades To Hold
Shanda Interactive (SNDA) shares have spiked today after Citigroup analyst Alicia Yap upped her rating on the stock to Hold from Sell, lifting her price target to $55, from $46. On Friday, the stock closed at $47.66.
Yap notes that the stock had dropped 16% since the spin-off of Shanda Games (GAME); given that the company has $21 a share in cash, she writes in a research note, downside is limited and no longer justifies a Sell rating.
SNDA today is up $3.04, or 6.4%, to $50.70.

NYT: Are Chinese Video Game Makers a Threat to Western Operators?
An interesting blurb in the New York Times in one of the sectors still exhibiting relatively decent (non government) performance in the U.S. - video games. Electronic Arts (ERTS) just seems to have lost its way - and judging by its stock, it seems to have missed the notice that we're in a new bull market.
Meanwhile Activision Blizzard (ATVI) took the reigns of leadership during this last console cycle - however the stock has fallen off a cliff of late, and really has been range bound.
Smaller players like Take Two (TTWO) and THQ (THQI) seem to rely on just 1 or 2 big hits (or busts) ... o...

Sohu Downgraded to Underperform – Analyst Blog

We are downgrading Sohu.com Inc. (SOHU) to Underperform from our pervious Neutral rating and reducing our six-month price target to $45, approximately 10.3x 2010 earnings, a discount to the industry average. We expect the stock to continue trading at a discount. While the company’s third-quarter earnings beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate and was in line with its own guidance, the outlook for the fourth quarter was well below analysts’ expectations. Sohu’s operating expenses have been going up steadily, which we fear could limit the growth in earnings. Moreover, recent delay in game la< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< /><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>>< />< />< />< />< /><>>< /><>>< /><>>< /><>>< /><>>< /><>>< /><><>< />><>< />><>< />>>< />...

Shanda Games (GAME): Video games 'pack potential'
"Shanda Interactive (NASDAQ: SNDA), a Chinese purveyor of interactive entertainment and media technology, offered U.S. investors a piece of its video game business, Shanda Games (NASDAQ: GAME)," notes Brandon Clay.
In Invest with an Edge, he explains, "Shanda Games has its risks but also packs a lot of potential, especially as a speculative China play." Here's his review. "GAME was one of the most widely-anticipated IPOs of 2009. The buzz surrounding Shanda Games was so intense that the company raised the offering from 63 million to 83.5 million shares just to meet demand. <>"But something happe>...
