Everyone is talking about solar. Whether you believe that solar energy will somehow displace an oil-driven economy or not (I don't), some of these stocks like First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR) and JA Solar (NASDAQ: JASO) have seen big gains over the past few years.
The success of solar companies has not been lost on ETF firms with their constant new products hitting the market. A smaller ETF firm called Claymore Securities looks to be first to the market with a solar ETF, the Claymore/MAC Global So...
Peter Way selects his buys by following the trading activity of block traders -- those making large, million dollar bets. Here's the latest from his Block Trader Oil & Gold Monitor.
"The volume stock market liquidity-providers are hedging their necessary position risks in ways that foretell declining oil stock prices. Their records on such outlooks in the past are pretty good, so pay attention.
"The million-dollar market-makers are not always right, and here they tend to be a bit early, but it's obvious the
5/1 - "Strong earnings growth coupled with a well-diversified customer base make JASO one of the fastest growing alternative energy stocks. Material cost savings through the company's long-term supply agreement will also boost margins. As of the date of this report, JASO trades at a multiple of 26.9x our current-year 2008 earnings per share estimate, or roughly in-line with the median value of its alternative energy industry.
The current multiple is at a significant discount to the average industry multiple and many of its peers. With strong projected year-over-year earnings projections th...
Imagine that...a profitable solar company & we're just at the beginning stage of this industry's launch. The next 5-10 years should prove to be very interesting and let's face it, the world needs green NOW and we're finally seeing a major push & it's deemed lucrative. JASO after emerging from their 3 for 1 split earlier this year has sparked like a lit owl ever since! To be honest, I believe the $30 target price I gave above will prove to be a modest estimiate for within the next 3 months. I forsee great things in this company. BUY NOW while it's cheap
3/13 - "We believe JASO is attractive for the following reasons: 1) it has solid supply agreements for silicon wafers that covers 100% of our 2008 and 2009 sales estimate; 2) It has a solid customer base that is increasingly more diverse geographically. 100% of the output is sold out at fixed pricing; 3) JASO has a cost advantage as the lowest processing cost producer in the industry at $0.19/W."
"4Q07 results came in at EPS $0.09 on sales $144 MM. Consensus was at EPS $0.09 on sales $118MM. Pro-forma EPS was $0.19 (this excludes $0.05 options expense and $0.05 foreign currency exchange lo...
This recent solar IPO has the potential to be hot. They have sales contracts extending into the next two years, and recently added a new deal. With this guaranteed revenue, this profitable company has a solid base to add to in the future. Also, as of late, solar energy is a very hot sector, with some phenomenal picks, so it's got some momentum behind it. Buy during the dips, and this stock will deliver.
Unfortunately, this does carry some risk. This is a small cap company, based in China, and consequently is inherently risky. Also, since the sector is so hot, it is possible that i...
Chinese solar companies are set for expansion as China attempts to improve their terrible pollution. This is a recent IPO and so volatility is higher, but overall I think this is a buy.
4Q/FY2006 results were presented today and this company seems to be headed in the correct direction. The market is expanding rapidly and these results look very promising.
