We find a mixed bag of items in today’s ETF Screener. We see no major theme, but the possibility of a few new trends emerging on the horizon. On the buy side, many Japanese ETFs were borderline buys, just missing that little bit to push them over the top. The same can be said for Pharmaceutical ETFs as many were three quarters the way home. Don’t be surprised if you see many Japanese and Pharma ETFs make next week’s ETF screener.

ETFs With Technical Analysis Buy Signals

These ETFs should outperform the S&P 500 in the weeks ahead

I began covering Chile in May of 2007, even in the absence of a corresponding exchange-traded fund. The Latin American country was/is a dominant player in the export of copper. What's more, it's GDP growth was as strong as any in the region. And its budget was essentially in check.

Yet the only alternative up to that point, the closed-end Chile Fund (CH), had been significantly underperforming iShares Latin America (ILF). And the underperformance wasn't small potatoes.

In last week’s ETF Screener post we highlighted 11 possible ETF trades. One week 10 of the 11 ideas we wrote about are profitable. CurrencyShares Mexican Peso Trust (FXM) is the lone blot on an otherwise good week.

Oddly, in this week’s screens, we found mostly emerging buy signals. It’s odd because most of our stock screens produce 4 sell signals for every buy signal. In the Currency ETF arena, ELEMENTS Australian Dollar - AUD/USD ETN (ADE) and PowerShares DB G10 Currency Harvest (DBV) have both posted buy signals.
