On Friday, I was about to write that it appears the continuing bad news makes me want to just go sit in the sidelines and wait for better days. The housing down turn is turning into a 4 year odyssey of pain for homeowners. Gas prices are causing SUV owners to trade in for Vespas. The recession that has been forecast by many actually appears to be arriving.

Headwaters Inc. (HW) is a company in the midst of a turnaround of its major business operations. The company has been hit by the double whammy of the housing construction slow down impacting the construction materials division (50% of sales) and the complete phase out of Section 45K alternative energy business (coal to syngas). The syngas business was propped up by the tax credits which are now gone, but a couple of years ago provided about 40% of Headwaters' profits.<!--more-->

Given the low levels HW is trading at, I think is worth having a look at selling some puts.  I don t think the stock will rise strongly any time soon, but a bottom should be found here.  So selling  March USD 15 puts at arund USD 1.50 might not be too bad an idea?  Any thoughts on that ?
