 Oil in the long run is driven by supply/demand. The problem with investing in oil is falling demand and conservation measures. We live is a Green world now and that means a big effort to reduce florcarbons. The interesting part is that oil has declice by 50% from its highs and the investment community likes it. It bubbled in 2008 and once a bubble then it's game over. Remember the techs in 2000? Most tech stocks are still 70% off that bubble. I know we are having a recovery and oil and commodities are going up now but sometime this year the supply demand matrix will send oil to new lows.. ...

If the S&P 500 closes below 850 on Wednesday, Jan 14, 2009 then we stand a pretty good chance of testing the November 20, 2008 closing low of 752.44.  All the major indices have broken down technically.  They all could fall a further 5-10% from today's levels.
