I am reversing my early sell on CHK and now rating CHK a buy.  There are a number of reasons.  The first and foremost being their new gas discoveries.  These deposits were found several months ago but I felt the market would not be able to hold the gains it made given the decline in oil prices.  I now feel oil prices will likely move higher in the near term especially if we get a decline in the dollar which I am also predicting.

Ummm... since the quarter ended they've made $5 billion in hedges.  Yes... with a B.  So those unrealized losses last quarter turned out to be a pretty smart investment that I don't think people realize when they trade this with oil (which they do instead of nat gas... oddly enough).  Oil going down may lose them millions this month, but it makes billions... I love Aubrey.

Fallen far pretty quickly.  Hopefully it will find support at the 200 SMA.  If not then it might bounce around, but I think in the long term, below 50 is a reasonable price for something with significant long-term growth potential.

In its weekly release yesterday, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a surprise 2 billion cubic feet (Bcf) addition to natural gas stockpiles for the week ended November 27, far off analyst expectations that hoped for inventories to remain flat, or possibly even show a drawdown.

This takes the current storage level to a new record high of 3.84 trillion cubic feet (Tcf), which is up 14.0% from last year's level and 14.5% above the five-year range (as clear from the nearby chart from the EIA). In September, the trade deficit expanded to $36.5 billion -- an increase of $5.7 billion or 18.5% over August. This was a much bigger increase than was expected, as consensus expectations were for a deficit of $31.8 billion. Since the trade deficit is a direct input into the GDP calculations, look for the next iteration of the third quarter GDP numbers to be revised down from the original read of 3.5% growth.

The reason for the growth in the trade deficit is also a bit of a silver lining. It happened because imports rose by $9.3 billion to $168.4 billion, while exports rose by $3.7 billion. ...
