We all know that institutional investors have purchased Blockbuster (BBI) stock at much higher levels, most notably Carl Icahn who owns over 20 million shares. In Mid-June, Marathon Asset announced their acquisition of 5.1% of the company. At the time the stock was trading at approximately $2.80-$2.90 per share, nearly a 20% premium to today's price.

Blockbuster Inc, which abandoned its offer to buy Circuit City Stores Inc  this week, may try to acquire the electronics retailer later, the New York Post said Thursday citing insiders.

One source told the paper that Blockbuster "verified the long-term benefits of a deal," and added that a there was a "real opportunity" to cut costs in combining the two chains' operations.

"Management didn't really put its case in front of shareholders yet," the source told the paper.

Blockbuster is my favorite movie rental service. They have come up with aggressive strategies recently but have been facing some stiff competition from Netflix. With the summer and holiday season coming up they should be seeing some good sales. Good time to buy now, Its at a low after the initial climb early this year

Total access plan combined with brick & mortar presence is enough to hedge out all competition for mainstream movie-buffs.

Was overpriced for quite a while, but now has fallen to less than realistic levels.

Blockbuster Inc (NYSE: BBI ) released their Q4 and year-end results along with the financial apologies associated with them. Apparently because they are attempting to enter the on-line business they have to create some losses along the way and disappoint investors in the process.
