When we sat down at an Austin cafe in 2005 and wrote the stats system, Matt and I had no idea what we were getting into. He created the databases and drew the little smiley face while I wrote the code. We had milk and cookies. It was really cute. We were naïve!
I swear it was Matt’s idea to store ...

When people were asked about internet success stories in the nineties (and early noughties), they would talk about random stocks such as Amazon.com, Yahoo.com, LastMinute.com and Boo.com, the once-adored online seller of clothes. But when the bubble burst around the start of the new millennium...

Brazil the new China???

When we say China, what do we think of? Do we think of Mao Zedong’s lentil soup or do we think of giant skyscrapers in Hong Kong or Shanghai? China is investing in construction projects like it was 1999 (that seems like a bad reference, don’t mention that crash again), and steel and con...

... more

Hi, Shane here,
I am an investing-enthusiast who regularly keeps track of the stock market and related events. I am doing well with my account at Socialpicks , and am currently the 6th most successful investor who uses the site of all time. Of course, you should always do your research before investing on my advice, as I am an amateur investor and dont even invest in the stocks I recommend (Im only 15).
At the moment, I am recommending financial (especially insurance) stocks, mining, consumer non-cyclical , large-cap pharmaceuticals and building materials providers. However, most technology stocks, such as Yahoo, Ebay, Google and Amazon are vastly overvalued and could be victims of another tech bubble bursting.
Good Luck,
~~~~Shane Halloran.
