Opinion & Analysis
Graphic_rating_buy purely speculative pick   about TSO   09/16/08
Strong fundamentals, crack spread is unprecedented, big drop today. Looks like the cards are aligning.

Graphic_rating_buy So they raised some money...   about TMA   04/01/08
Now that the Fed is backstopping Fannie and Freddie, it looks to me that TMA will live to see another day. They got the crap beat out of them during that 3-4 week period that the Fed appeared like the...

Graphic_rating_buy Bullish on WM ...   about WM   03/23/08
I'm calling hold for now.

Graphic_rating_sell Bearish on BSC ...   about BSC   03/18/08
Nice explanation. Thanks! I love Cramer's quote last Wed regarding selling it - "Bear Stearns is not in trouble. No no no!" LOL LOL LOL!

Graphic_rating_sell Blew through my stop loss - argh!   about TMA   03/02/08
Looks like TMA is in more trouble than anybody expected. Margin calls have put into question TMA's stability over the next several months. As a relatively simple investor the dynamics of of the pr...

Re: Nowhere to go but up, or die! 06/04/08
It's been real sad watching this one drop so much so quickly. I had high hopes when the Fed started backstopping banks again but it looks like it's too late. I hope it reverses for you Brady.

Re: Walter Industries a One-Stop Shop for Coal, Natural Gas a... 05/06/08
I bought WLT in Dec '06 but not for their home division or even their coal division then, but because they were spinning off what I thought would be their most profitable division - Mueller Water. (MWA) When they split, MWA didn't move, but I noticed WLT started ticking up ever so slowly. Then within a year WLT was up about 80%, so I decided to keep it and ride the wave. :) I ditched Muel...

Re: Another REIT 04/01/08
Nice find, Dog. I'm horrible at picking a bottom so I'm going hold off on this one for now until I see some constant upswings.

The bright spots of my portfolio this year so far have been Homebuilder ETFs and REITs. Go figure, huh?

Re: Take the money and run 03/23/08
Tough call, DC. This one could go either way. They won a sizeable lawsuit and if we compile that with the fact that the fed is going to backstop loans again, it will be hard to bet against small/med banks.

Nonetheless, your 15% one-day callout is noticable and I won't jump back into regional banks until the uptrend is confirmed. I'm calling a "hold" on this one until there's so...

Thoughts on MSFT? 10/26/07
I'm brand new to Socialpicks and the group. Thanks for having me.

Regarding MSFT - am I alone or do others see MSFT turning to a growth stock again?

Re: MSFT still cheap? 10/26/07
After years of being a value stock, I think MSFT is a growth stock once again. Their stock purchase of Facebook indicates to me that they're "back in the game".

This is one of the few stocks, at this price point, that's a buy and hold for years.

IMHO, of course.
