GE is managed well as it attempts to position itself in industries that will be doing well in the future, such as solar. GE should be a core holding for the long term.

I like what you said about 2-5 years but also I think right now this is a stock that should stay in your portfolio for the long term, unless management changes their behavior. I don't think this is a stock that you can trade on a short term basis.

Even taking out the pfd capital, C is still selling way below equity book value. Once they start adding back some increase in value on some of the items they have written down, the market will start increasing the Price to Book ratio to a more normal situation (selling for more than book) and the stock will explode.
