Graphic_rating_sell C Breaks Down   about C   12/27/07
More write-downs today for Citigroup (underestimated in the first place). C is talking of cutting dividends by 40% which will scare fixed income investors. C is also commenting that perhaps the other b...

European Markets 06/24/08   —  I've been looking into European equities for some time and getting a better feel of the economy over on the other side of the pond. The European Central Bank is fearful of high inflation rates. Eurozone inflation is at 16 year highs at 3.7% as of May and was 3.3% in April. The ECB's target rate is th...

Why Munis Are a Great Opportunity 04/12/08   —  Market turbulence has always pushed market participants seeking safer investment vehicles to bonds. Stocks are obviously a no-go for risk averse investors, so the question is what...

Re: Is Apple a BUY? 12/28/07
I would recommend doing some homework and research into stock picking strategies. Definitely learn to read a chart. Also, consider reading "How To Make Money In Stocks" by William O'Neil. It is always best and most comfortable to make your own calculated decisions about your investing. To answer your question... *my* opinion is AAPL is a buy once the market starts moving up again. For now I wou...

It's a penny stock... bad idea, in my opinion. Companies' prices reflect their value in the market place.

Re: General Question about Social Picks 12/28/07
I would think it is a NECESSITY to have most global equities on here. Apparently more than half of my picks aren't even "eligible." I'm sorry, but the days of USA-only investing are long over. The best opportunities for growth and value are to be seen in emerging markets. It is sad that it seems these great equities aren't being tracked, let alone the portfolio and pick gains/losses seem to hav...

SocialPicks Messing Up Stock/Portfolio Gains? 12/28/07
Is anyone else having issues? I just bought ASTI at $24.1 and it closed at $26.75 and up at $27.50 after-hours and SocialPicks says I am losing 14-something percent on it... It's doing that for quite a few of my other picks as well, along with my portfolio metrics. Not very accurate.

Also, what's up with the "eligible" picks? Why even bother with that? Apparently more than half of my p...

Re: Visa Ipo 12/28/07
VISA is much larger than MasterCard (MA) in terms of customers. The great thing about companies like VISA and MA is that they don't actually have that many costs up front. Merchants have to pay all the overhead for their stores, etc. and all they do is swipe people's cards for purchases and VISA takes a cut of every single transaction. It's a great business. I don't remember exactly but it's su...
