Both COST and FDO look interesting from a technical perspective. I would be a buyer of COST on a test of support near $60. For FDO, a breakout above current resistance on heavy volume would be a buy signal.

Whereas there is likely still downside risk with SBUX, there is significant support just below current levels. Management has shown their intention to take whatever measures are necessary to revive the company's profitability. Consequently, shorting at these levels would, in my opinion, entail more risk than a long position.

Food Sanitation 07/28/08
Given the recent food contamination scares with e-coli in spinach and, now, salmonella in jalapenos, ECL could move sharply higher since it is in the food industry sanitation business. I have already seen it working wonders in some local restaurants, getting them to get their act together in terms of sanitation in the workplace.
