Avanex should benefit from the increased PON deployments worldwide, including undersea deployments in the back half of 2007.  Undersea carries higher margin, which is a plus.  Also, the legacy association with Alcatel should help, as Cisco and Alcatel-Lucent seem to have Nortel on the defensive.  The main supplier to competitor Nortel is Bookham, who I also like as a speculation on their eventual turnaround later this year.  They report earnings on Tuesday, February 6.
