Universal Detection Technology (UDTT) has been selected as one of 15 companies invited to a technology fair on April 2. UDTT will be presenting the technology behind its BSM-2000 monitor to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security.

The fair will be held at the Rayburn House Office Building Foyer in Washington, D.C. next month. The purpose of the technology fair will be to educate the U.S. House of Representatives and staff on the latest homeland security technologies available in the detection of bio-terrorism. The participating attendees will present equipment with the capability of detecting bio-hazardous material in a variety of materials: air, food, and water.

The BSM-2000 is capable of detecting airborne anthrax in about 15 minutes. Not only does this device provide real-time testing results, it also can run at standard increments for continuous safety testing.

The technology fair will hold both a breakfast and lunch meeting with officials on the Department of Homeland Security and Congressman Bennie Thompson, the Chairman of Homeland Security Committee. This will allow the companies to answer questions on their products in a more intimate environment.

“We are truly proud to have been invited to present our technology to Congressman Thompson and to other members of the House as we continuously seek the government’s support in promoting our technology,” said Mr. Jacques Tizabi, UDTT’s Chief Executive Officer. “An Independent report by the U.S. GAO has shown that our detection technology, if used in conjunction with legacy detection systems, will save the government millions of dollars in consumables,” he added.

Universal Detection Technology (UDTT.OB) Receives First Order for Anti MRSA Products in China

Universal Detection Technology (UDTT), a manufacturer of systems able to detect bio-hazardous and infectious threats, announced that it received its first purchase order for anti-MRSA products from Kandinuo Science and Technology of Beijing. MRSA stands for multiple-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, bacteria responsible for difficult-to-treat infections in humans.

Jacquest Tizabi, UDTT’s Chairman and CEO stated: “This is the second purchase order we have received from our Chinese distributor pursuant to our recent agreement. The first order was related to our line of bio-terrorism detection products. We look forward to establishing an effective and long-term relationship with Kadinuo and to use their influence to find a market for our products and services in China both in the counter-terrorism market and in the anti-microbial market.”

Kadinuo has actively promoted advanced radiation instrumentation in China for over 10 years. During this period, Kadinuo has established itself as one of the most successful radiation-detection instrument suppliers in China. It is also known as one of the leading regional suppliers of decontamination kits, emergency nuclear monitors, and environmental radiation monitors. Kadinuo is also an established supplier of equipment to a number of governmental agencies in China.

The World Health Organization West Pacific Regional Office has anti-microbial resistance surveillance centers in Beijing and Shanghai due to the number of hospital-acquired and community-acquired MRSA strains discovered in both cities. Studies have shown that China has the highest rate of antibiotic resistant bacteria strains in the world. It is evident how easily an infectious disease can spread rapidly through a country and across national borders after the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) issue in 2003. China did not have the facilities or therapeutic options to handle the outbreak.

With the start of the Olympics in Beijing in a few months, it looks like Kandinuo is preparing to guard Chinese residents and international visitors against bio-hazardous and infectious diseases.
