I have been in and out of DEO for years now and it always stays within a 20 dollar range it seems. I do not own tons of shares of it, so my price margin wasn't that high. It is a great company and its Asia Growth is just really starting to take off with premium whiskey in China, as one example. with Guinness, Smirnoff Johnnie Walker and many others in their arsenal, it is already a good stock and a good company, I believe.
@ things make this real interesting. as far as I know, no decision has been made By Sweden's government as to who to sell Absolut to. Sure they have a premium Brand in Smirnoff, but Absolut is almost a brand name. I know of people, OK younger ones, collecting the Absolut adds and hanging them on their walls.
My real reason is P.Diddy. He and DEO are 50/50 on this new brand of Vodka named Ciroc. It is made from grapes i believe and is a vodka none the less. More importantly is P. Diddy. Anything this guy touches turns to gold in the urban community. anyone remember what he did for Crystal, until Crystal said something stupid. This is a premium vodka and if Diddy or as he now know Sean John, is behind it, drinks it and endorses it, it will take off like a rocket., It will be the new drink of choice in the VIP areas by the bottles and also at the bar with the common folk like myself, also drinking it. I don't know much about hip hop, but I do know that P.Diddy is as good a businessman that I've seen come along in the new class of winning CEO's.
So I toast DEO, Diddy, the King of Sweden and DEO. (not the hard rock Ronny James Dio...with his hit Holy Diver...OK)
