After watching the sneak preview for the new Disney/Pixar film Ratatouille, I can affirm that the magic that was Disney is now present in John Lassiter.
By purchasing Pixar and not subsuming it into an existing broken system, Disney has resurrected it's relevance in the market for animated movies. You could see this Pixar relevance in Cars, Incredibles and other films prior to this new one, but somehow the ability to tell such a good story about a french rat while being owned by Disney seems more relevant than all those other challenges.
Animation is not a technology, though Pixar has technology in spades. Animation is just a way to tell a story, and the stories that are coming out of Pixar are great ones and will completely transform every aspect of Disney for the next 25 years.
Bravo.
I originally got dragged into Disney because I had Pixar stock. I first considered selling the DIS after the sale, but have been watching carefully what the marriage looks like.
My target here is 45.00 after a year - and I think that might be possible. though I really think that this is a company that you will want to own for as long as kids need stories.
