VAALCO Energy, Inc., an independent energy company, engages in the acquisition, exploration, development, and production of crude oil and natural gas. It holds interests in Etame Marin block, a 1,186 square mile offshore block containing 5 discoveries, including the Etame, Avouma, and South Tchibala fields that are on production, as well as the Ebouri field and the North Tchibala discovery in Gabon, west Africa. The company also has a 100% working interest in the 270,000 acre Mutamba Iroru block onshore Gabon. In addition, it holds interest in Block 5 offshore Angola, Africa; Block 9/28d offshore in the British North Sea; and Block 48/25c offshore in the British North Sea, as well as in four producing wells in Brazos County, Texas producing from the Buda/Georgetown formations and certain non-operated interests in Ship Shoal areas of the Gulf of Mexico. As of December 31, 2007, the company had total proved reserves of 6,214 million barrels of crude oil and 61 million cubic feet of natural gas.
