The company holds interests in various properties, including Chapada property, a copper and gold mine prospect, located in northern Goias State; S?o Francisco gold mine property located in the western portion of Mato Grosso State in West Central Brazil; Jacobina property located in the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil approximately 340 kilometres northwest of the city of Salvador; The Gualcamayo Property located in northern San Juan Province, Argentina; El Penon project located in the Atacama Desert in Region II of northern Chile; and Minera Florida project located within the Alhue District, situated 73 kilometers south of Santigao in Region Metropolitana, central Chile. It also has interests in other properties comprising San Andrés project located in the Department of Copán in the interior highlands of western Honduras approximately 150 kilometres from San Pedro Sula; Fazenda Brasileiro located in northeast Brazil in the eastern portion of Bahia state; and Alumbrera property located in northwest Argentina. In addition, Yamana has a joint venture interest in The Rossi/Storm project located in northern end of the Carlin Trend, Nevada, the United States. The company was founded in 1980. It was formerly known as Yamana Resources, Inc. and changed its name to Yamana Gold, Inc. in 2003. The company is based in Toronto, Canada.
