It operates in five segments: Coatings, Adhesives, Specialty Polymers, and Inks; Fibers; Performance Chemicals and Intermediates; Performance Polymers; and Specialty Plastics. Coatings, Adhesives, Specialty Polymers, and Inks segment manufactures liquid vehicles, additives, specialty polymers, and other raw materials, which are integral to the production of paints and coatings, inks, adhesives, and other formulated products. Fibers segment provides Estron acetate tow and Estrobond triacetin plasticizers, which are used in cigarette filters; Estron natural and Chromspun acetate yarns for use in apparel, home furnishings, and industrial fabrics; and acetate flake and acetyl chemicals. Performance Chemicals and Intermediates segment offers intermediates based on oxo and acetyl chemistries; and performance chemicals that are organic molecules, such as diketene derivatives, specialty ketones, and specialty anhydrides. Performance Polymers segment provides polyethylene terephthalate for use in beverage and food packaging, as well as in custom-care and cosmetics packaging, health care and pharmaceutical uses, household products, and industrial packaging applications. Specialty Plastics segment offers specialty copolyesters, which are used in a range of markets and applications, including specialty packaging; in-store fixtures and displays; consumer and durable goods, medical goods; personal care and consumer packaging; photographic film, optical film, fibers/nonwovens, tapes/labels, and liquid crystal displays. This segment also provides cellulosic plastics, engineering and specialty polymers, specialty film and sheet products, and packaging film and fiber products. The company sells its products directly, as well as through distributors. Eastman Chemical Company was founded in 1920 and is headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee.
