VISA ...Long term investment great but there maybe a few bumps in the road with the credit crunch, maybe the banks may not be so happy to hand out loans...Hens less Visa card issued....More and more people are not paying their credit cards off and card are being canceled....On the flip side banks are issuing more secured Visa acounts....

The real question is how V customers will continue to spend/pay their bills going forward, I think it terms of clientèle AXP may be a much better positioned

Credit and consumer spending are getting scary right now I would advise one to stay away

They have no risk. It's per transaction,That's why Visa and Mastercard are bucking the trend when it comes to the other financial companies. Even though they group them as a financial company, they're really not.
They get paid a fee each time someone uses their cards, and the banks that issue the cards assume responsibility for the debt.

I can't say as to whether V will move up or down, or if the company will grow in profitability in the future. I can however say that the large market penetration, global nature, and governmental relations of Visa lead me to believe that you won't be losing very much money if things go badly (compared to other companies).

I am currently long on V, hoping to simply ride the wave.

credit is the next shoe to drop, saying visa is a good name in a bad category is like saying you didnt mind being long a good bank 6 months ago.

I'd rather be in on something like MA, which has just been added to the s and p 500

rates will go up, new stimulus idea may bring relief but I am sure the buzz on the market will be short lived as the plan will not be put in place soon enough to make a real solid hold on the upswing of the market. Its to early to get excited as the credit crunch maintains front page trough this market downfall.

I would not go near it especially with consumer credit the way it is
